Inoculation drive for second dose of Vero Cell vaccine begins

KATHMANDU, MAY 16
The inoculation drive to administer second dose of China donated 'Vero Cell' jab has begun in Kathmandu, in few places in Bhaktapur and in Kavrepalanchok.
People within the age group of 18-59, who had received the first dose will be receiving the second dose starting today. This round of vaccination will last till May 25. All eligible people are urged to visit a vaccination centre located near them, or as designated by local authorities.

The dates for the second dose has been scheduled corresponding to the day they received the first dose.

People received the first dose of China developed vaccine on April 9. As many as 800,000 doses of Vero Cell vaccine had arrived in Kathmandu on March 29 in a wide-body airplane of the national flag carrier, which had gone to Beijing to ferry the vaccines back home.
The vaccine, which is manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd (BIBP), China, under Sinopharm, was approved for emergency use against Covid-19 in Nepal on February 17.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has asked adults over 18 years that haven't received a jab yet but are willing to receive their first dose to fill in a form (click here) in order to register.
