US to provide 7m vaccines to 17 Asian countries, 25m worldwide.

KATHMANDU, JUNE 3

The United States government has decided to donate 25 million Covid-19 vaccines worldwide of which 7 million will be provided to 17 Asian countries, Nepal being one of them.

Ambassador of the US to Nepal, Randy Berry shared that Nepal will be among the countries to receive direct vaccine donations from the United States. 'I join my fellow Americans and all friends of Nepal in celebrating the White House announcement,' Berry wrote on Twitter.

The White House, on Thursday, released a statement in which the Biden-Harris administration has unveiled its strategy for global vaccine sharing along with an allocation plan.

'Approximately 7 million for Asia to the following countries and entities: India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, and the Pacific Islands,' according to the fact-sheet.

It is yet to be known as to exactly how many doses will be alloted to Nepal.
