Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbs to 85.2%, caseload nears 600k mark

Nepal's Covid-19 tally on Wednesday neared the 600,000 mark after 3,449 more people tested positive for the infection, while 81 fresh fatalities pushed the total death toll to 8,179 in the past 24 hours.

With this, the country's coronavirus caseload has now risen to 598,813.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 16,615 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 12,047 were PCR tests while 4,568 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,179,203 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Meanwhile, antigen tests have confirmed 895 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests add up to 4,344.

The daily Covid-19 count in Nepal has been on a constant decline of late. However, it is to be noted that the number of daily PCR tests conducted too have decreased in recent weeks.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 85.2 % on Wednesday, as opposed to 84.7 % on Tuesday and the total number of recoveries in the country on today's date is 510,298.

Likewise, 5,768 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours. Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 80,336.

In the same time frame, 679 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 151 and 85 cases respectively.

There are 634 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 2,861,314 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,169,820 have received the first dose while only 691,494 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

On Tuesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 595,364 with 3,870 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 174 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.7 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 158 million people have recovered while more than 12 million cases are still active.
