Nepal on Monday reported 1,227 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the total nationwide infection count has advanced to 285,900.

Of the newly infected, 456 are females and 771 are males.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 54 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 1,281 today.

Of the total cases that surfaced today, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections -- 505 cases. Lalitpur reported 97 cases whereas 32 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.

Likewise, 255 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 275,555 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 96.4 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 7,254.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,091 with eight Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 7,548 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 7,001 were PCR tests while 547 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,352,502 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 81 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Sunday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 284,673, with 1,015 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 142 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 120 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
