Over 1000 cases, 1,044 infections, were reported last on December 11

KATHMANDU, APRIL 18

Nepal on Sunday reported 1,015 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the total nationwide infection count has advanced to 284,673.

This is the first time over a thousand cases have surfaced in the country in four months. Earlier on December 11, 1044 infections were reported.

Of the newly infected, 413 are females and 602 are males.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 81 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 1,096 today.

Of the total cases that surfaced today, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections -- 326 cases. Lalitpur reported 64 cases whereas 45 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur. Banke, with 163 new infections, has the second highest number of cases registered in 24 hours.

Likewise, 262 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 275,300 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 96.7 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 6,290.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,083 with eight Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 5,783 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 5,084 were PCR tests while 699 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,345,501 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 85 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Saturday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 283,658, with 768 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 141 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 119 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
