Floods inundate 300 houses in Saptari

Floods in various rivers, including Triyuga, Khadak, Saptakoshi, triggered by incessant rainfall have inundated around 300 houses in various places in Saptari.

Floods in various rivers, including Triyuga, Khadak, Saptakoshi, triggered by incessant rainfall have inundated around 300 houses in various places in Saptari.

Flooded rivers have even eroded embankments in some places posing a serious threat to the near by settlements.

More than 200 houses were submerged after flood water from the Saptakoshi River gushed into wards 9,10, 11, 12 and 13 of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality last night. 'We are doing everything from our side to control the flood and prevent the inundation of human settlements,' said Mayor Sailesh Sah.

Similarly, floods in Triyuga, Tenga and Gangajali rivers have inundated around 100 houses located in wards 1,2,3, and 4 of Saptakoshi Municipality, according to Mayor Uttam Gautam. The swollen rivers have started eroding embankments in Siddipur and Sakhuwani.

Likewise, floodwater in Khadak Khola has started eroding the embankment at Kataiya and it might breach the dyke at any time if the rainfall continues for more days, warned Mayor Shiv Narayan Sah.
