The first vaccination of the China-gifted Vero Cell was administrated to journalists of Sunsari on two consecutive days. They were vaccinated on June 15 and June 16 respectively.

In the first phase, 223 journalists were vaccinated, informed Dhruba Dhakal, the secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sunsari District Committee.

He added, ''We have scheduled new dates of the second jab on July 11 and 12. Those who were vaccinated on June 15, will get the second jab on July 11 and those who were administrated the vaccine on June 16 will get their second dose July 12.'' According to FNJ Sunsari chapter, there are 263 registered journalists with the umbrella organisation.

Some members are abroad and some have already taken their jabs from outside Sunsari district, downsizing the vaccination to just 223 journalists in the district.

As of 7 of July, 21 journalists have tested positive for COVID-19 infection and one has succumbed to the deadly virus. However, none of the infected journalists had to be kept in ICU and ventilator, informed Dhakal.

Like in previous vaccinations, Itahari Hospital has been designated as the vaccination centre for the second jab, informed FNJ Sunsari.

''I am happy to hear news of the scheduled second dose of COV- ID-19 vaccine,'' remarked Krishna Bahab Bhattarai, a young journalist from Barahakshetra of the district.
