Kalpana Pariyar sets new national record for Nepal in Tokyo Olympics

Nepali shooting athlete Kalpana Pariyar has set a new national record at the ongoing 32nd summer Olympics being held in Tokyo, Japan.
In the women's 10 meter air rifle competition held earlier today, Pariyar set a new record scoring 616.8 points.
She garnered 102.2, 105.4, 101.0, 104.1, 103.4 and 100.7 points respectively in first to six series.
Kalpana Pariyar broke her own record of 614.5 points that she had set in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal.
Nepal's 'shooting-star', however, finished 46th among 50 other athletes that had participated in the event and unfortunately could not proceed to the second round.
Pariyar, who is associated with Nepal Army's Tribhuvan Army Club, had received a wild card entry for the sporting mega event.
Judoka Bhatta loses to Russian opponent
Sonia Bhatta lost to her Russian opponent in a match held under round of 32 earlier today in the women's 48 kg category.
Bhatta suffered the setback against Russian Erina Dolgova. The decision was based on ippon score, declared after a bout of 1 minute 16 seconds.
Another wild card entry to the Olympics, Sonia stands in the 127th position in the World Judo rankings, while Dolgova ranks 9th
In other Olympics' events, Gaurika Singh and Alex Shah are representing Nepal in swimming, and Saraswati Chaudhary in Athletics.
