Social activist felicitated

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 25

Health and Education Concern Centre today honoured a social activist for her notable contribution to rural health for over two decades.

During its silver jubilee celebrations in Kathmandu, HECC, in association with Nepal Education Support Association presented the award to social activist Muna Basnet of Khotang. 'As a community medical assistant, Basnet voluntarily served the remote communities in Kavre district since 1995,' said HECC founder Santa Bir Lama.

Lama, who is also president of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, handed over the award to Basnet.

After receiving the award from HECC, Basnet recounted her past while serving the needy in the remote villages.

Lama lauded Basnet's contribution in improving rural health. 'Lions Club and well-wishers from Japan also supported HECC and NESA to contribute to Nepal's health and education sector,' he added.

Tourism entrepreneur Bharat Basnet, NMA executive member Shiva Bahadur Sapkota and other activists were also present on the occasion.
