680 recover as 385 new Covid-19 cases surface; six deaths reported

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 17

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 805,037 on Sunday with 385 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 781,456 with 680 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 11,284 with six more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 8,077 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 6,966 were PCR tests while 1,111 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,320,824 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed six positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 391.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.07 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 12,297.

Currently, there are 231 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

Globally, over 241 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.9 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 218 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
