KATHMANDU, JANUARY 18

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to immediately stop the leasing process of Tanahun's Manungkot.

A single bench of justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada issued the order on Monday, asking the Office of Prime Minister and Tanahun's Byas Municipality to stop the process immediately and also furnish the reason for leasing the historical tourism site.

In view of the preparations to hand over the famed historical tourism site to Batas Group's Byas Hills Private Limited for purely commercial purpose at a cheap price, advocate Ramchandra Poudel had filed a public concern writ seeking stoppage of the process.

Meanwhile, the interim order issued well before the hearing on the case has elated locals, who had been lobbying against the lease of the historical site to Batas Group, which has come under controversy.
