Leaders of ruling coalition of the government have gathered today to discuss tabling of Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact in the House of Representatives.

The meeting, which is being called a deciding factor in the issue surrounding MCC and the continuity of the current coalition, is being held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

According to sources, the coalition partners are nearing consensus on the issue, for now, as the dissenting forces have agreed to at least table the proposal for now.

It is to be noted that from among the parties in the government, Nepali Congress is in favour of tabling and ultimately ratifying the compact while its partners -- the CPN-Maoist Centre, the CPN- Unified Socialist and the Rastriya Janamorcha Party and the Janata Samajwadi Party seem to differ.

The ongoing issue surrounding the compact has created a lot of ruckus in the internal politics of Nepal while also putting strain on its international relations.
