After Annapurna, Indian climber scales Lhotse without using O2

KATHMANDU, MAY 14

A 41-year-old Indian climber scaled the world's fourth highest peak without using supplemental oxygen this morning.

Skalzang Rigzin from Ladakh, who became the first Indian climber to stand atop Mt Annapurna without using supplemental oxygen, has made it to the top of Mt Lhotse (8,516m) at 7:25am, according to Babu Sherpa, Managing Director at Peak Promotion Pvt Ltd.

'Rigzin completed his second 8000er in 16 days without using bottled oxygen support,' Sherpa said. He had climbed Mt Annapurna on April 28.

From Peak Promotion, Jitendra Gaware and Ngima Dorji Sherpa also scaled Mt Lhotse this morning, he added.

All climbers are now descending to the base camp, according to Sherpa.
