KATHMANDU, JULY 27
The National Information Commission has directed the public sector and all the political parties to implement the people's right to information effectively.
Clause 3 (1) in the Right to Information Act, 2007 has guaranteed the right of all Nepali citizens to information, and Clause 3 (2) has ensured access to information for Nepali citizens, the Commission stated in its statement issued today.
The public sector, as per the laws, should update and publicise its activities once every three months. But most of the registered political parties are found to have violated the right to information, according to the statement.
The commission has pointed out that political parties play an important and leading role in implementing the right to information.
It has directed the public sector to provide information to Nepali citizens in a feasible way and within the stipulated deadline as per the Right to Information Act, 2007. In Nepal many people do not have awareness about the right to information.
