Jitpursimara tops all local levels in Bara in unaccounted amounts

Bara's Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City has topped all local levels in the district in terms of unaccounted amount, it is learnt.

According to the 59th annual report of the Office of Auditor General, unaccounted amounts at the local body stands somewhere at 530 million rupees. Again, data show Jitpursimara stands with second highest unaccounted amounts in the entire Madhes Province and third among all 11 sub-metropolitan cities across the country.

In Madhes Province, Janakpurdham stands first, with the highest unaccounted amounts.

The percentage of unaccounted amounts in Jitpursimara and Janakpurdham stands at 6.27 and 7.82 respectively.

Jitpursimara had called for proposals for Pasaha, Balganga and Dudhaura rivers for the fiscal 2021-22 fixing Rs 76.7 million as the minimum amount.

Though a company had proposed highest bid worth 146.7 million, as the company finally reneged on its proposal, the sub-metropolitan city had selected the second highest bidder that had proposed 127.6 million rupees. Thus far, the sub-metropolis has yet to collect remaining 31.2 million rupees of the bid amount from the second highest bidder.

Though the sub-metropolitan city had forfeited some 740,000 rupees of the highest bigger that reneged on its proposal, it hasn't taken any other action as vouched by the Public Procurement Act and Regulations for such defaulting.

Regarding the Auditor's General Office's report on the city, Jitpursimara Mayor Rajan Poudel has shared the reports on social media and sought suggestions from the general public to resolve the problem of unaccounted amounts.
