Kidney patient struggling for life in Bajura

Thirty-eight-year-old Baalkesh Damai of Jagannath Rural Municipality has been fighting for life for want of money in Bajura.
After both his kidneys failed, Baalkesh has been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital Kathmandu.
Local Hira Bahadur Rokaya said that Damai had borrowed money from local money lender at high interest for his treatment. 'But, he is having a hard time purchasing medicine for want of money,' said Rokaya. Damai requires more than Rs 1,000 a day for treatment. Locals have collected donation for his treatment. According to medical reports, Damai has to undergo transplantation of both kidneys, but has failed to manage money for kidney transplant.
Baalkesh bemoaned that he could not even manage money for rent of a room let alone for kidney transplantation.
Baalkesh's wife is ready to donate one kidney for him. Baalkesh is impoverished and comes from a Dalit family. He works as a daily wage earner to feed his family. The failure of both kidneys has left Baalkesh's family in trouble.
