Indian side gives Rs 1.6 million in compensation to victim's family

The Indian side has given a compensation of Rs 1.6 million to the family of a teenage boy, who died after a stone fell on him during road construction on the Indian side four days ago.
Garga and Garga Company which is constructing the road along the Tawaghat-Lipulek provided Rs 16 lakh to the family of Pawan Mahara, 12, of Ward No 2 of Byas Rural Municipality. Mahara was killed in the incident.
The local administration and people's representatives had held talks with the India side yesterday, said Darchula DSP Tarkaraj Pandey. Mahara died after the stone fell on him while the Indian side was carrying out road construction yesterday.
According to DSP Pandey, the boy died after a gelatin explosion caused the stone to fall on him.
Likewise, Mahara's senior sister Sarina Mahara was injured in the incident. She is being treated at the District Hospital in Darchula. Her condition is said to be normal.
The Nepali and Indian sides have agreed to inform each other in advance if either side has to explode any explosive materials for construction purpose.
Following the compensation by the Indian company, the victim's family members have agreed to take the body. The body will be handed over to the family after necessary examination at the hospital, police said.
