KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province defeated Hong Kong-XI by two wickets in the first of the two 40-over-a-side match under the Bagmati Province Invitational Series here at the Mulpani grounds on Sunday.

Batting first, Hong Kong-XI were bowled out for 170 runs in 29.1 overs before the home team reached 171-8 with six balls to spare. Kany Chen and Leon Cherry scored 31 runs each for Hong Kong-XI. Payer-of-the-match Sony Pakhrin of Bagmati took 4-30 in 5.1 overs.

In reply, Asmita Kharel top scored for Bagmati with 40 runs, while Salina Silwal remained unbeaten on 20. The second match is slated for Monday.

The two teams will also play two T20 matches in December 27 and December 29. Earlier, Bagmati Province Sports Development Council Member Secretary Surya Lal Bhandari inaugurated the series.
