LAMJUNG: RODS defeated Bagmati Football Club in sudden death to win the title of the 30th Triveni Cup here on Tuesday.

The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in regulation and extra time. Anil Rana put Bagmati ahead in the 18th minute before Suresh Kumal levelled the scores for the Rampur-based side in the 37th minute.

The winners were decided in the sixth kick of the penalty shootout. Abdel Rahman, Akash Thapa, Dicka Sergey, Bhabendra Malla Thakuri and Nabaraj Gurung scored for RODS, while Sandip Shrestha missed his shot.

Likewise, Deva Gurung, Amar Shrestha, Suman Chamling Rai and Kasim Rai scored for Bagmati, while Dipesh Chamling Rai and Ayush Rana missed their shots. Bhabendra Malla Thakuri of RODS was named the player of the match. Suresh Kumal of RODS was declared the best player of the tournament, while Bagmati's Rabin Basnet was named the best goalkeeper.

Winners RODS received Rs 500,000, while runners-up Bagmati earned Rs 300,000.
