Nepali boxers lose

KATHMANDU: Nepali boxers Trisha Jabegu and Bijay Bata faced defeats in the semi-finals of the ASBC Asian Under-22 Boxing Championship in Bangkok on Tuesday. They were directly drawn in the last four. In the women's 76kg section, Jabegu lost to Yerzhan Gulsaya from Kazakhstan, while Bata faced defeat at the hands of Indonesian boxer Muskita Maikhel Roberrd in the men's 86kg section.
Along with Jabegu and Bata, Nepali's Hema Rai also claimed bronze medal in the championship. After winning her quarter-final bout against Singaporean boxer Chow Zi Min Berniss, Rai faced defeat at the hands of Mongolia's Battur Zoljargal in the women's featherweight (54-57kg) category in the semi-finals. Another Nepali boxer, Sushma Tamang has created history by making it to the final in the women's 48kg weight category. The eighth and ninth National Games gold medallist, Tamang will face Uzbekistan's Fozilova Farzona on Wednesday.
