KATHMANDU: Nepali boxers Indra Bahadur Sunar and Lal Prasad Upreti faced defeats in the quarter-finals of the ASBC U-22 Boxing Championship in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday.
Sunar - who defeated Souksakhone Souksakhone of Laos in unanimous decision and advanced to the quarter-finals in the men's 57kg weight category - lost in unanimous decision against Mongolian boxer Lundaa Gantumur. Another boxer, Lal Prasad Upreti faced defeat against Philippino boxer Durens Mark Lester in the men's 48kg weight category.
Nepali boxers Sushma Tamang and Hema Rai have advanced to the semi-finals. Bijaya Bata (86kg) and Trisha Jabegu (75-81kg) have been directly drawn in the semi-finals.
Bata will face Indonesian boxer Muskita Maikhel Roberrd on January 23, while Jabegu will fight against Yerzhan Gulsaya from Kazakhstan on January 25.
