Nepali boxer Sushma Tamang and Hema Rai recorded victories in the first round bouts and advanced to the semi-finals of the ASBC Under-22 Boxing Championship in Thailand today.

Tamang defeated Vietnam's Pham Thi Quynh Anh in unanimous decision in the quarter-final match of the women's flyweight (45-48kg) category. The eighth and ninth National Games gold medallist, Tamang will face Mongolian boxer Byeisyenbyei Janarguli for a place in the final on January 22.

In the women's featherweight (54-57kg) category, Rai defeated Singaporean boxer Chow Zi Min Berniss after she earned a Referee Stop Contest (RSC) decision over her opponent in the second round of the bout. She will face Mongolian boxer Battur Zoljargal in the semi-finals on January 22.

On Wednesday, Indra Bahadur Sunar defeated Souksakhone Souksakhone of Laos in unanimous decision and advanced to the quarter-finals in the men's 57kg weight category. Sunar will face Mongolian boxer Lundaa Gantumur on Friday for a place in the semi-finals. Another boxer, Lal Prasad Upreti will play against Philippino boxer in the quarter-final match in the men's 48kg weight category on Friday.

Nepal have already confirmed two medals after Bijaya Bata (86kg) and Trisha Jabegu (75kg) were directly drawn in the semi-finals. Bata will face Indonesian boxer, while Jabegu will fight against a player from Kazakhstan.
