Nepal Police claim team championship

Nepal Police Club won the team championship as departmental sides dominated the second Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Memorial Karate Tournament here at the International Sports Complex today.
NPC added two more gold medals on the third and final day to finish first.
They claimed a total of 15 medals - 10 gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
Nepal APF Club, who won three gold medals today, came second with six gold, three silver and five bronze medals. NPC had bagged the team championship in the first edition of the tournament. Champions NPC earned Rs 100,000, while runners-up APF bagged Rs 50,000.
Tribhuvan Army Club finished third with a gold, five silver and seven bronze medals. None of the seven province teams could win gold medal. Bagmati claimed two silver and five bronze medals, while Gandaki bagged two each silver and bronze medals. Lumbini were next with a silver and three bronze, while Sudurpashchim won one each silver and bronze medals. Karnali bagged a silver, whereas Province-I claimed six bronze and Madhesh won two bronze medals.
A total of five events were held on the third and final day of the tournament.
NPC karateka Sunita Maharjan won the women's below 68kg weight category gold after she defeated Bagmati's Binita Shrestha in the final. APF's Diana Ojha and Madhesh's Monika Magar finished joint third. Nabin Rasaili won NPC's 10th gold medal of the tournament. He beat TAC's Sunny Chaudhary in the men's 67kg section final.
Nima Sherpa of Bagmati and APF's Pratik Gharti Magar bagged bronze medals.
APF karatekas Manish Chaudhary, Mohd Shekhu Alam and Subash Ghatani won gold medals on the final day. Chaudhary beat Barsha Budha Magar of Lumbini in women's 55kg weight category final, while Sarada Sunar of TAC and Vidhya Kala Rai of Province-I finished joint third. Alam won men's below-84kg section gold beating Bishal Thapa Magar of Gandaki, while NPC's Swikar Rai and TAC's Nikesh Manandhar won bronze medals. Ghatani beat Gandaki's Sajol Budhathoki in the 75kg weight category final, whereas Rurihang Dhami of Province-I and Akash Mandal of NPC finished joint third.
