Tamang falters to finish second
Nepal bag one each gold, silver and bronze in Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship

Top Nepali golfer Subash Tamang faltered in the final round to squander a threestroke lead in the 36th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka today.
Tamang played three-over 75 on the final day and he slipped to second position behind Australian Aarav D Shah, who carded two-under 70 for the total score of four-under 284. Shah registered a two-stroke victory over Tamang, who posted a total of two-under 286.
Tamang, who was three strokes ahead of Shah after third round, fell two shots behind Shah after the completion of front nine. While Shah carded five-under 31 on the front nine, Tamang played even-par 36. Both golfers played three-over 39 on the back nine as Shah lifted the title. Tamang, who opened up six-stroke lead with an impressive round of six-under 66 in the second round, had his lead halved to three shots in the third round after he played one-over 73. And he faltered again in the final round.
Bangladesh's Shafiqul Islam finished third at twoover 290 after he played oneover 73, while his countrymen Abu Bakar Siddik and Liton Mondal came fourth and fifth respectively. India's Arjun Singh Bhatia and Korean Beomgyu shared the sixth position at nine-over 297, whereas Indian golfer Manjot Singh was eighth at 298.
Bangladesh duo Snk Shahabuddin and Miraz Howlader shared the ninth position along with India's Shat Mishra at 12-over 300. Bangladesh's Abdul Kader was 12th at 301, one stroke ahead of Sri Lanka's MH Chalitha Pushpika and Bangladesh's Md Sumon. Nepal's Sadbhav Acharya finished 15th at 303 after he played two-over 74.
The women's team of Sushma Sigdel and Tara Karki won bronze medal in the two-day team event. Participating in their first international tournament, Sigdel and Karki finished third with the score of 357. Bangladesh 'A' won gold with the score of 315, while Pakistan came second with the score of 324. Bangladesh 'B' were fourth at 358.
Tamang and Sadbhav won men's team event gold medal on Thursday. Tamang and Acharya finished first with the score of four-over 292, while Bangladesh 'B' came second at 294. Bangladesh 'A' and 'C' shared the third position at 297 in the 12-team competition.
