APF win Mayor's Championship

Kathmandu, March 30

Nepal APF Club won the title of the Lalitpur Mayor Women's Championship here at the TU Stadium today.

APF defeated Koshi Province by 54 runs in the final.

Batting first, APF posted 154- 1 in their allotted 20 overs riding on unbeaten half centuries from skipper Sita Rana Magar and Indu Barma,while Koshi managed 100-6 in reply. APF lost opener Jyoti Pandey (two) with 18 runs on the board before skipper Rana Magar and Indu Barma added 136 runs for the unbroken second wicket to help the team post a mammoth total. Rana Magar remained unbeaten on 79 off 68 balls that included nine boundaries and two sixes, while Barma hit five fours and a six in her 51 not out off 41 balls.

Khadiya was the lone Koshi bowler to get a wicket after she trapped Pandey leg before the wicket. Skipper Rubina Chhetry, who was the most expensive bowler conceding 40 runs, used six bowlers including herself but her plan did not work in the final match.

In reply, Chhetry top scored for Koshi with 41-ball 35 that included four boundaries, while Lakita Rajbanshi struck two fours in her run-aball unbeaten 21. Apsari Begam (10) was the other batter to score in double figure.

Binu Budha took 2-18 for APF, while Rekha Rawal, Sonu Khadka and Nary Thapa grabbed one wicket each. Champions APF received Rs 200,000, while Koshi got Rs 100,000. APF skipper Rana Magar was named the player of the match for the fourth time, while she also bagged the player of the tournament trophy along with Rs 30,000. Koshi skipper Chhetry was declared the best batter, while her teammate Nisha Shah was named the best bowler. They received Rs 15,000 each.
