Rafa Jaime becomes first Mexican blind person to scale Everest

KATHMANDU, MAY 23

Rafa Jaime has made history becoming the first Mexican blind climber to conquer Mt Everest.

According to Chang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks, Rafa along with Gesman Tamang and a team of dedicated guides from Seven Summit Treks stood atop Everest this morning.

'Rafa and his climbing partner, Omar Alvarez have shared numerous extraordinary mountaineering experiences, defying limits and inspiring us all,' Chhang Dawa said, adding, 'Despite Rafa's blindness, he has demonstrated adorable determination in the mountaineering.'

Omar and Rafa journey reflect to the power of friendship, and the human spirit.

Rafa once said, 'When there is desire, determination, and an unwavering spirit, the impossible simply does not exist.' These words encapsulate the indomitable will and strength of character that Rafa exemplifies, he shared.
