KATHMANDU, JUNE 23
The ICC's event panel has confirmed that American player Kyle Phillips used an illegal bowling action, resulting in his ban from bowling in international cricket.
After the match against the West Indies in the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier last Sunday, the match official expressed doubts about the bowling action of the 26-year-old player and reported it to the panel.
The event panel analyzed video footage of Philips' bowling action and concluded that it was indeed an illegal bowling action.
According to Article 6.7 of the ICC Rules, the ICC has informed him that he is suspended from international cricket for the time being.
Despite the report from the match official on Sunday, Phillips also bowled in the match against Nepal on Tuesday, conceding 49 runs in 7 overs.
In the World Cup Qualifiers, the home team Zimbabwe and Netherlands are in Group A along with Nepal, USA, and West Indies. The US will play its final group game on Monday against the home team Zimbabwe.
