Nepal trounces Singapore, reaches final of ACC U16 East Zone Cup

KATHMANDU, JULY 03

Nepal has reached the final of the ACC U16 East Zone Cup after defeating Singapore by 97 runs in a match held at Bayuemas Oval in Malaysia. Nepal will face Malaysia in the final on the upcoming Tuesday.

Having won the toss and choosing to bat first, Nepal scored 184 runs in 35 overs while losing nine wickets. In pursuit of the 185-run target, Singapore could only manage 87 runs in 31.3 overs, losing all their wickets.

A well-balanced partnership between openers Suryanshu Koirala and Niraj Kumar Yadav greatly contributed to Nepal's success, with a combined score of 63 runs. Koirala scored 43 off 49 balls, including six boundaries, while Niraj Kumar scored 42 off 49 balls, including one six and three fours. Additionally, Abhisekh Tiwari contributed 25 runs, Santosh Yadav scored 18, Pratik Bhattarai scored 12, and Kritik Kamat scored 10. Dipu Kumar remained unbeaten with 12 runs.

For Singapore, Hariharan took three wickets, while Harsh Venkatram and Kabir Berlia took two wickets each. Roshan Ravichandran scored 24, Pranav Dhanuka scored 14, and Berlia scored 11 for Singapore.

On the other hand, Kamat took three wickets for Nepal, conceding just nine runs in 15 balls. Santosh, Naren Bhatta, Ashok Dhami, Tiwari, and Pratik Pokharel each took one wicket.
