NEPSE gains 40 points; Hotels and Tourism sector leads with 6.69%

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 40.76 points, or 1.47%, on Monday, closing at 2796.38 points. This marked a positive start after the weekly closure on Friday, Saturday, and the Bhote Jatra public holiday on Sunday.
Despite the overall increase in the benchmark index, the Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of class 'A' stocks, fell by 0.19%. Conversely, the Float Index, reflecting actively traded shares, rose by 0.93%.
The market today witnessed six sectors experiencing losses and seven sectors recording gains. The Hotels and Tourism sector led the gains with a 6.69% increase, followed by the Others sector at 5.73%, and the Trading sector at 5.70%. The Investment sector rose by 3.52%, Life Insurance by 3.23%, Hydropower by 3.09%, and Non-Life Insurance by 1.25%. In contrast, the Finance sector saw the most significant decline, dropping by 4.61%.
In individual stock movements, 163 companies advanced, 78 declined, and one remained unchanged. Eight companies, including RURU, CHDC, SMJC, KBSH, BGWT, MMKJL, VLUCL, and MKCL, saw a 10% increase in their share values. Meanwhile, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) experienced a 10% decline.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited led the market in terms of turnover, transactions, and volume, with 1,549,098 units of its shares traded across 10,668 transactions, totaling Rs 1,260,488,762.20.
Overall, the market recorded a daily turnover of Rs 21.8 billion from the exchange of 49,773,730 units of shares of 326 companies in 238,078 transactions.
The total market capitalization reached Rs 4.438 trillion.
