Kathmandu University (KU) and Agriculture Forestry University (AFU) have announced the third edition of the Habitat Innovation Conclave 2024, which will be held on September 16-17, 2024, at the Central Office of Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal.

According to the organiser, this Conclave, themed 'Turning Waste to Energy: City Region Food, Environment, and Sanitation Nexus,' will provide an important platform for experts, academicians, practitioners, organisations, and students to collaborate on innovative solutions to pressing issues such as waste management, environmental sustainability, and agriculture.

The Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS) at Kathmandu University, in collaboration with the Directorate of Research and Extension at Agriculture and Forestry University, is organising the event.

Professor Bim Prasad Shrestha said that the Habitat Innovation Conclave 2024 is a significant gathering that brings together professionals and academics from various disciplines related to food, environment, and sanitation. 'The Conclave is designed to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and develop partnerships that can lead to groundbreaking projects and initiatives in these vital areas,' he said.

'The event will specifically focus on integrating city region food systems, agriculture, sanitation, and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus, providing a platform for students and professionals to engage directly with organisations and industries working in these sectors. This engagement will offer invaluable educational experiences, practical insights, career pathways, and networking opportunities.'

According to him, the Habitat Innovation Conclave 2024 aims to identify and address challenges, empower students, advance sanitation practices, promote GSGS initiatives, and connect waste management and agriculture.
