KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12

Qatar Airways commenced flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) today.

An Airbus 330 from Doha landed at GBIA this afternoon, according to the GBIA Office. General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Pratap Babu Tiwari, confirmed that Qatar Airways has launched its first commercial flights from GBIA using the Airbus 330.

Qatar Airways will now operate a regular daily flight on the Doha-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu-Doha route. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has granted permission for flights to and from GBIA until November 30.

This brings the number of airlines operating out of GBIA to five. Nepal Airlines, Fly Dubai, Thai Air Asia, and Jazeera Airways had already begun their services at GBIA prior to Qatar Airways.
