NEPSE rises by 17.28 points on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, MARCH 12

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rebounded on Wednesday, gaining 17.28 points (0.63%) to close at 2,736.48, following consecutive days of decline.

Along with the benchmark index, the Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, also increased by 0.56%, while the Float Index, which represents actively traded shares, rose by 0.57%.

Most sectors closed in positive territory except for the Development Bank (-0.33%) and Microfinance (-0.27%) sectors, which ended in the red. Among the gainers, the Investment sector led with a 1.76% increase, followed by the Others sector with a 1.57% rise. None of the other advancing sectors gained over 1%.

Despite the market's upward movement, daily turnover declined compared to Tuesday's Rs 8.39 billion, reaching Rs 8.23 billion today. A total of 22,941,365 shares of 323 scrips were traded in 79,236 transactions.

By the end of the session, 144 stocks advanced, 89 declined, and 11 remained unchanged.

Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) was the only stock to hit the 10% lower circuit, making it the day's biggest loser despite overall positive market sentiment.

At the close of trading, NEPSE's total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.543 trillion.
