The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) dropped by 46.33 points (1.64%) on Sunday, closing at 2,772.10 on the first trading day of the week.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class 'A' stocks, declined by 1.55%, while the Float Index, measuring actively traded stocks, fell by 1.64%.
Despite the decline in NEPSE, daily turnover remained stable, hovering around Rs 10 billion from the exchange of 22,726,283 shares of 315 companies in 112,347 transactions.
Two stocks defied the broader market trend, hitting the upper circuit limit with a 10% surge-Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI) and 9% ICFC Finance Limited Debenture 2088 (ICFCD88). Conversely, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ULBSL) and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) hit the lower circuit limit, dropping 10%.
All sectors ended in the red, with the Others sector posting the highest loss of 2.69%, followed by the Investment sector at 2.49%. Other sectors also recorded losses, but none exceeded 2%. By the end of the trading session, 24 stocks advanced, 217 declined, and two remained unchanged.
At the close of the session, NEPSE's total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.602 trillion.
