KATHMANDU, JUNE 28
President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the need to promote modern agricultural technologies and engage domestic human capital to boost paddy production and reduce reliance on imports.
In a message on the occasion of National Paddy Day, President Paudel expressed concern over the growing import of paddy and rice, calling for expansion of food technologies linked to paddy. He urged efforts to cultivate uncultivated land and foster a culture of labor to move toward self-reliance in rice production.
'May this day inspire us to reduce imports, ensure food security, and respect agricultural labor by adopting climate-smart technologies,' his message read.
Highlighting that the Constitution guarantees every citizen's right to food, the President said enhancing paddy production is essential to safeguarding that right and preventing food crises.
This year, National Paddy Day is being observed with the theme: 'Intensity in Paddy Production: Food Security and Self-reliance.'
