KATHMANDU, JULY 15
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy weather across the country today, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning expected in many parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, especially in the hilly regions. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in these provinces.
Other regions may also witness scattered rainfall, while the high hilly and mountainous areas could experience light rain or snowfall.
Tonight, similar conditions are expected to persist. Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as surrounding hilly regions, are likely to see moderate rain with thunder and lightning, with heavy rainfall possible in parts of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces. Gusty winds may affect parts of Madhesh Province and the Terai region of Koshi Province.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the day and night, with about a 60% chance of rain this afternoon and tonight, according to DHM.
Pokhara is likely to see the highest probability of rainfall today, with a 70% chance of showers forecast for both day and night.
Currently, monsoon winds are actively influencing weather conditions across the country. The monsoon trough is positioned near the average location in western Nepal, while it lies slightly north of the average position in the east.
The DHM advises the public to remain alert for possible localized flooding, landslides, and road disruptions due to intense rainfall, particularly in hilly and mountainous areas.
