DHM forecasts cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms across several provinces
KATHMANDU, JULY 14
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy weather across Nepal today and tonight, with widespread rainfall activity expected in various parts of the country due to the active monsoon system.
According to the DHM, today afternoon there will be light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at some places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, including the hilly regions.
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
Light rainfall or snowfall is expected at a few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions.
As the day turns to night, the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places elsewhere, DHM forecasted.
There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi and Lumbini provinces. Furthermore, light rainfall or snowfall may occur at a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions.
The valley is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day and night, with rain or thundershowers likely. The DHM has predicted a 60% chance of rain in the valley today.
According to DHM, the entire country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. The monsoon trough lies close to its average position in the eastern part of the country and slightly north of average in the western region.
