KATHMANDU, JULY 2
Monsoon conditions remain active across the country, with widespread rain and thunderstorms expected throughout the day and night, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). The monsoon's low-pressure trough is currently positioned near its normal location.
The MFD has forecast generally cloudy skies across the country today. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Some areas in Madhesh Province may also experience similar conditions.
Heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. There is also a chance of light to moderate rainfall or snowfall at a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions.
Tonight, the country will continue to see generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and at a few places in Madhesh Province.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is also expected at a few high-altitude locations.
The Kathmandu Valley is expected to have partly to generally cloudy skies, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely in both the afternoon and night. The probability of rain is estimated at 60 percent.
The MFD has urged the public to stay alert as continuous rainfall may lead to rising river levels, floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas.
