KATHMANDU, JULY 16

Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has directed the Secretary of the Ministry of Law to identify legal and policy obstacles and propose appropriate measures to foster an investment-friendly environment.

Speaking at an interaction programme held in Dhangadhi on Wednesday, CM Shah urged the Secretary and other concerned officials to eliminate legal bottlenecks that hinder investment. He also suggested the possibility of issuing ordinances, if necessary, to expedite the reform process.

The Sudurpaschim Province Government is planning to organize an Investment and Development Conference on September 17–18. The Chief Minister made the remarks during an interaction hosted by the Policy and Law Study and Recommendation Subcommittee, which was formed to prepare for the upcoming event.

'Identify all legal and policy barriers within a week through consultations with relevant stakeholders,' Shah reiterated, expressing confidence that the conference would be a milestone for the province's socioeconomic and infrastructure development.

Amod Dahal, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, stated that the ministry is ready to facilitate the revision of related legislation, including the Cooperatives Act, Tourism Act, and Partnership Industrial Act.

In preparation, the Sudurpaschim Province Government also held a virtual meeting with the Koshi Province Government on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on the exchange of policies and legal frameworks related to development activities.
