KATHMANDU, JULY 17

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country today, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in many areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Other provinces may also experience scattered rainfall.

There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected in some high mountainous areas, while gusty winds may occur in parts of the Terai region in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of other provinces.

In the Kathmandu Valley, the weather will remain generally cloudy with rain or thundershowers throughout the day and night. There is a 60% chance of rain this afternoon and a 40% chance at night.

According to meteorological analysis, monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country. In addition, a low-pressure system over Uttar Pradesh, India, is also influencing the weather. The monsoon trough lies near its average position.
