KATHMANDU, JULY 18
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several parts of the country today, under the continued influence of monsoon winds.
According to the department, partly cloudy conditions will persist nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, including the hilly regions of the remaining provinces. A few places elsewhere may also witness rainfall. There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Light rainfall or snowfall is possible in some high-hill and mountainous areas, while gusty winds may affect parts of the Terai region in Lumbini and Sudur Pashchim provinces.
Tonight, partly cloudy skies are expected to continue across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi Province and at a few places in Madhesh Province and hilly regions elsewhere. One or two other locations may also receive light rainfall. The high-hill and mountainous regions could experience light rain or snowfall at a few places.
This afternoon, the Kathmandu valley will remain generally cloudy with chances of rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 28°C and 30°C with a 40% chance of rain. Tonight, the sky will remain generally cloudy with rain or thundershowers, and the minimum temperature will hover between 20°C and 22°C, with no significant chance of rainfall.
The monsoon system remains active across the country, with the monsoon trough lying near its average position, influencing widespread weather activities.
