The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions across Nepal today, with widespread rain activity, particularly over the hilly regions.
According to the DHM, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly regions and across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces. Some areas in the remaining parts of the country may also witness rainfall.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki Provinces, and in the hilly areas of other provinces. There is also a chance of light to moderate snowfall at some places in the high hills and mountainous regions.
Tonight , the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and at a few locations elsewhere.
Very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. High hilly and mountainous regions may also experience light to moderate snowfall at some places.
The Kathmandu Valley is expected to remain generally cloudy with chances of rain and thundershowers. The maximum temperature today is forecast to range between 27°C and 29°C with a 60% chance of afternoon rain. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 21°C–23°C with a 40% chance of rain.
The DHM reports that monsoon winds are currently active across the country. The monsoon trough is located slightly north of its average position, contributing to increased rainfall activity over Nepal.
