Cloudy skies with rain, thunder, and possible heavy downpour in several provinces

KATHMANDU, JULY 21
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across the country today, with rain and thunderstorms likely in multiple regions.
According to the DHM, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at some places in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudur Pashchim provinces, as well as in the hilly regions. A few other areas across the country may also witness rainfall. There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudur Pashchim provinces. The high hilly and mountainous regions may receive light to moderate rain or snowfall at some locations.
Tonight, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, including the hilly regions. A few places in other parts of the country may also witness rainfall. There is a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Gandaki Province. Light to moderate rain or snowfall is also possible at a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas.
Today afternoon, Kathmandu Valley will experiencce generally cloudy with brief rain or thundershowers weather pattern with the temperature expected between 27°C to 29°C, with a 60% chance of rain, the DHM forecasted.
As the night arrives, the valley will see weather pattern of generally cloudy with rain or thundershowers likely. Meanwhile, the temperature will range from 21°C to 23°C, with a 40% chance of rain, it added.
The department noted that monsoon winds are currently active across the country. 'The monsoon trough is positioned slightly north of its average location,' DHM stated.
