KATHMANDU, AUGUST 20

Veteran composer Ram Krishna Duwal is set to perform at Paleti, the musical series hosted at Nepalaya's 'r' sala, on the final Friday of the English calendar month.

In a press statement issued today, Nepalaya announced that the composer will be accompanied by emerging vocalists Abhigya Ghimire and Venuka Kshetri, representing the younger generation of Nepali music.

A native of Kirtipur, Duwal has also played a pivotal role in Nepal's political and social transformations. He composed the melody for poet Gopal Prasad Rimal's iconic verse, 'Ek Jugma Ekdin Ekchoti Auncha' (Once in an Age, a Day Arrives), a song that has held an enduring place in Nepal's political movements since 1979 (2036 BS).

Ram Krishna Duwal has long been dedicated to the study and preservation of traditional Newa (Nepal Bhasa) culture. At the same time, his contributions to Nepali-language music have been equally significant and influential, reads the statement.

This edition of Paleti will present a musical confluence of Nepal Bhasa and Nepali, according to composer Avash, who has been curating the series. Avash remarked, 'Duwal Dai is a living heritage of the Kathmandu Valley's musical civilization. It gives me immense joy to be able to showcase his artistry on the Paleti stage.

Composer Ram Krishna Duwal, who is deeply engrossed in preparations for Paleti, appears visibly excited.

Throughout my life I have sung and danced on many stages, but this edition of Paleti will be a truly significant platform for me. I will be joined by musicians from the younger generation, and I carry the faith that I will receive the love and support of the audience in this joyous moment, as stated in the statement.

Launched two decades ago, Paleti has established itself as a celebrated musical series.
