KATHMANDU, JULY 27
Nhyoo Bajracharya, the celebrated composer and musician, performed at the Paleti session held at Nepalaya's 'r' Sala this Friday and Saturday.
Seated on stage with his guitar, Bajracharya personally inaugurated the evening with a soulful performance. As he introduced each song, he interwove personal anecdotes and poignant reflections drawn from his musical journey.
As he introduced the first song of the evening, he fondly remembered the late vocal virtuoso Lasmit Rai, who passed away a few years ago. When the audience heard "Na Aau Sapanabhari"-originally recorded in Lasmit's voice-rendered in the composer's own vocals, it evoked a distinct sense of nostalgia and stirred a unique emotional resonance throughout the hall.
In the second segment of the program, the mellifluous voice of Banika Pradhan resonated through the venue. She delivered a refined and heartfelt rendition of "Yo Man Ta Talaau Ho", a song originally recorded in the voice of the legendary Aruna Lama. Following this classic penned by Rajendra Thapa, Banika went on to perform a series of songs at various intervals, including "Timi Bahek", "Khata Basechha", "Ae Aina", and "Chhaayechha Basanta".
These compositions-set to Nhyoo Bajracharya's evocative melodies-featured lyrics by prominent poets and lyricists such as Durgalal Shrestha, Basanta Chaudhary, Manju Lama, Bhushan Kharel, Gopal Pyakurel, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Kshetrapratap Adhikari, and Suresh Sthapit. The program also included songs penned by Nhyoo Bajracharya himself, further enriching the evening's musical narrative.
This evening was truly unforgettable. Nhyoo's music is undeniably beautiful, but it was his sense of humor that added an extra layer of charm and made the program even more engaging," remarked poet and lyricist Biplab Pratik, who hosted this edition of Paleti.
Paleti coordinator Abhas announced that the upcoming edition of Paleti, scheduled for the month of August, will feature veteran composer and vocalist Ramkrishna Duwal. A prominent figure in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa music, Duwal has remained an active contributor to the country's musical landscape for decades.
The Paleti session highlighting Duwal's musical creations will take place on the final Friday and Saturday of August at Nepalaya's 'r' Sala in Kalikasthan. Tickets for the event can be conveniently accessed and purchased online by visiting www.paleti.com.np.
