BHOJPUR: Unhappy at the proposed federal structure carved out by the CA committee on State Restructuring, the Khambuwan Democratic Front today declared its own version of a Khambuwan Autonomous State (KAS). Organising a programme at the district headquarters, central chairman of the Front, Indrahang Khambu declared the autonomous state. Khambu claimed that all parts of Bhojpur, Udayapur, Sankhuwasabha, Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts fell under the unit. According to him, the area east of the Tamakoshi river in Dolakha, some parts of Ramechhap and areas east of the Kamala river in Sindhuli district, areas west of the Leuti river in Dhankuta and all the areas north of the East-West Highway fall under KAS. He also opposed a state named after Kirat. Stating that a Kirat State was proposed by the CA committee, he said, “It should be cancelled immediately.’’ He said the panel had proposed the Kirat State against the earlier agreement with the Front. He urged the government to stick to earlier agreements and asked various Khambuwan organisations to remain united to secure Khambuwan.
