KATHMANDU, AUGUST 30

Continuous monsoon rainfall has triggered landslides and floods, leaving nine major highways and road sections blocked across the country, according to Nepal Police.

The Koshi Highway at Bhotkhola in Sankhuwasabha, the Nepal–China border bridge in Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa, and the Arniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk are among the major routes fully obstructed.

Similarly, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung, Beni–Darbang road in Myagdi, Jajarkot road in Rukum Paschim, Bheri Corridor in Dolpa, and the Gokuleshwor–Darchula road in Darchula remain impassable.

Police said that while these sections remain closed, partial movement has resumed on several other roads where obstructions were cleared for one-way traffic. These include the Mid-Hill Highway in Terhathum, Uttargaya road and parts of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa, as well as stretches of the Prithvi Highway in Tanahu and Dang, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East, and the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan section in Arghakhanchi.

Authorities are mobilizing teams to clear debris and restore smooth traffic, but continued rainfall poses challenges for immediate recovery.
