Koshi Highway, Pasang Lhamu Road, and Nepal-China Border Road among fully obstructed routes
KATHMANDU, JULY 28
Heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides have disrupted several major highways and road sections across the country, according to the latest update from Nepal Police as of 10:00 am today.
In the Kathmandu Valley, a section of the Kathmandu–Nuwakot Road at Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-2 has been narrowed to one-way operation due to waterlogging and minor damage caused by continuous rain.
In Bagmati Province, multiple roads remain completely obstructed. The Pasang Lhamu Road and the Nepal-China Border Road in Rasuwa District, as well as the Arniko Highway in Sindhupalchok District and the Mid-Hill Lokmarg in Nuwakot, are all closed due to landslides. The disruptions date back to mid-Shrawan, with no clearance timeline provided.
Koshi Highway in Sankhuwasabha District has also suffered a complete blockade due to ongoing rainfall at Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4.
In Gandaki Province, Kaligandaki Corridor has been reduced to one-way traffic in Baglung and Nawalparasi (East), while partial movement is allowed on the Beni–Jomsom Road in Mustang following recent slides in Ghoptebhir in Thasang Rural Municipality-5.
Further west, Rolpa District's Shahid Highway in Lumbini Province is operating under one-way traffic due to obstruction at Gramjim and Dhamachaur in Parivartan Rural Municipality-5.
In Karnali Province, full blockades have been reported at Rijigar of Aathbiskot Municipality-6 along the Jajarkot-Dolpa-Bheri Coridor road section in Rukum West; Shiv Temple in Simkot Rural Municipality-6 along the Karnali Corridor in Humla; and Gittikhola in Dangkheri Bhir in Chedagad Municipality-3 along the Mid Hill Highway in Jajarkot.
