Floods, landslides kill 60 across Nepal since Friday night

Ilam hardest hit with 37 deaths as heavy rains trigger widespread destruction

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7

The Armed Police Force (APF) has confirmed that 60 people have died in floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall across Nepal since Friday night (October 3).

According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, APF's Associate Spokesperson, the fatalities include 19 men, 26 women, and 15 children.

Ilam district recorded the highest toll with 37 deaths, followed by Panchthar (8), Udayapur (3), Rautahat (3), Khotang (2), and one each in Sunsari, Morang, Sindhuli, and Mahottari.

In addition, two women died in Kavrepalanchowk and a child lost his life in Sindhupalchowk, the APF said.

Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing in the affected areas.
