Nepal recorded a total of 78,711 international visitors in September 2025, marking a decline of 18.3 percent compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Department of Immigration compiled by the Nepal Tourism Board.
The figure represents an 85 percent recovery rate compared to pre-pandemic September 2019 levels.
Visitor arrivals from South Asia (SAARC) accounted for the largest share at 30.9 percent, followed by Europe (21.1 percent) and Asia (other than SAARC) at 16 percent. Arrivals from Oceania showed a strong growth of 32.8 percent, while Americas saw a modest decline of 5.2 percent.
Among individual countries, India remained Nepal's top source market with 15,556 visitors, followed by the United States (9,679), Australia (6,824), China (5,237), and the United Kingdom (4,981).
Despite the slowdown in the foreign tourists from other Asian markets, growth was notable from Oceania and the Americas, suggesting shifting travel trends toward longer-haul destinations.
