Govt committed to holding election: Minister Kharel

Newly appointed Interim Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and journalist, Jagdish Kharel, arrives for the oath-taking ceremony at Sheetal Niwas in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Monday, September 22, 2025. The ceremony also marked the swearing-in of former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha as Minister for Industry, Law, and Land Management; National Innovation Center founder Mahabir Pun as Minister for Education, Science, and Technology; and Dr. Madan Pariyar as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development. The oath of office was administered by President Ram Chandra Paudel in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, and National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal.

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 11

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has said government was committed to holding election by fulfilling the genuine demands of Gen-Z people.

Minister Kharel said it after an all-party meeting with the Cabinet members including the Prime Minister on Friday. The meeting was held at the initiative of President Ramchandra Paudel in Shital Niwas.

Also the spokesperson of the government, Minister Kharel informed that the meeting dwelt on election. The President enquired both the government and political parties on the preparation for the election. The Head of the State stressed on holding the election to the House of Representatives on the slated date.

On the occasion, the government assured the President and political parties that adequate security would be ensured and resources managed for holding the election. 'There is no doubt that political parties' participation is essential to make the election successful,' he added.
